Works

Yvonne Ekman exhibited at Galleria Gagliardi in our gallery in 1994.

A musician born in Geneva in 1933 and a graduate of the Royal College of Music in London, from the beginning of the 1960s she also began to work in sculpture and ceramics.

Yvonne Ekman, of Northern European origin, has lived and worked in Italy for many years. Professionally she works with music and ceramics. As a ceramist, she has oriented her activity towards sculpture, developing the plastic characteristics of clay. He has taken part in workshops in France, England and Italy, developing his own style that combines research into form and colour with a sensitivity to civil and social issues. In recent years he has developed an interest in land art, creating a number of installations.

His works, mainly made in porcelain and stoneware, have been exhibited in group and personal exhibitions since the beginning of the 1970s. In 1979 he took part in the group exhibition held by Studio Giambo in Florence and in 1981 in the one held at Galleria S. Marco in Rome. He took part in the editions of Arte Fiera in Bologna in 1987, '88, '90 and '93; in the Concorso Internazionale Ceramica d'Arte Gualdo Tadino in 1987, '89 and '92.

1989 he presented his works at the Concorso Internazionale Ceramica Faenza, at the Rassegna Nazionale Artisti Contemporanei di Camerino and at the Biennale Internazionale di Ceramica Contemporanea di Grottaglie.
In 1990 he had a solo exhibition at the Gallerie Alandier in Limoges, France and at the Biennial of Ceramics in Savona.
In 1992 she was again at the Biennale of Savona and presented some works at the Galleria il Luogo of Calcata, in the province of Viterbo and in 1994 at the Galleria Gagliardi of San Gimignano, near Siena. 
In 1994 she was invited to participate in the International Exhibition of Ceramics in Taipei (Taiwan).

In 1997 in the exhibition Terra e Mare organised by Galleria Gagliardi San Gimignano, her works were exhibited in Florence, Bettona and Sciacca.
In 2000 he was at the Galleria Studio in Rome and in 2002, again in Rome, at the Galleria Punto di Svolta.
In 2005 he presented a series of one-man shows in Viterbo, Porto Ercole (GR) and at the Museum of Architecture in Fermignano (PU).
In 2007 he took part in Fatto ad Arte, an exhibition of contemporary ceramics at the Museo di San Salvatore in Lauro in Rome.
In recent years he has often used the raku technique.
